As a professional flutist with experience in orchestral, chamber, and solo performance, as well as a deep commitment to pedagogy, I strive to cultivate a rich & inspiring learning environment for my students. My approach is designed to develop well-rounded musicians by emphasizing  technical mastery, artistry, creativity, and personal expression.

Diversity in Repertoire & Performance

I believe that a well-rounded musician should explore a broad range of repertoire, from traditional works to contemporary compositions and music from diverse cultures, especially underrepresented composers. By incorporating pieces from various genres and traditions, students gain a deeper appreciation of music’s vast possibilities and develop their own unique artistic voices.

A Holistic Musical Experience

Studying the flute is about more than learning an instrument—it’s about developing discipline, creativity, and resilience. I encourage students to immerse themselves in multiple aspects of musicianship, including solo performance, chamber music, orchestral playing, and improvisation, so they graduate with a well-rounded skill set adaptable to various musical careers.

The Benefits of Studying Music

Music is a transformative tool for personal and professional growth. Learning to play the flute fosters discipline, patience, and problem-solving skills. It strengthens cognitive abilities, enhances emotional intelligence, and builds confidence—qualities that benefit students both in and beyond their musical endeavors.

Flute as a Unique Voice

The flute’s expressive capabilities allow for an unparalleled connection between the musician and the audience. Through focused study, students discover how to shape phrases, refine tone, and bring their own voice to each performance. My goal is to guide flutists in unlocking their full expressive potential, using the flute as a medium for storytelling and emotional depth.

Opportunities to Engage with the Community

Music is meant to be shared, and I encourage students to find ways to connect with their communities. Whether through outreach performances, collaborations with local organizations, or interactive educational programs, students experience firsthand the power of music to inspire and bring people together.

Creating Art Together

Music is a collaborative art, and one of the greatest joys of being a musician is sharing the creative process with others. Whether through chamber ensembles, orchestral settings, or masterclasses, I emphasize the importance of listening, adaptability, and communication. By making music together, students develop essential skills for artistic and personal growth.

Who I Teach

I work with students as young as seven and welcome flutists of all ages, with no upper limit. Whether you're a beginner, an advanced player preparing for college auditions, or an adult returning to music, my teaching is tailored to your individual goals and experience level.

In addition to private flute instruction, I also offer coaching for instrumentalists preparing for Solo and Ensemble competitions, honor band auditions, and other performance opportunities. My approach focuses on refining technique, enhancing musicality, and building confidence so that students can perform at their best.

Through individualized instruction, mentorship, and performance opportunities, I am dedicated to helping each student reach their highest potential—both as musicians and as artists who contribute meaningfully to the world.
